All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Make More Happen Award

Helping Our Community Thrive. We Did It Together!

We’ve earned a Make More Happen Award — and with the help of all of your votes, we won $5,000 for The Crisis Hotline! At Wood River Insurance, our mission has always included giving back, because we recognize building a stronger community is something that benefits us all.

Everybody knows that volunteering can change lives — but it actually can save lives, too. Want proof? Since its inception in 1987, thousands of kids and young adults have called The Crisis Hotline, including one middle-school student who sought help recently because he was considering suicide. A trained volunteer provided support, and later found out that this student learned about the Hotline through an information booth set up at his school — which he visited literally the day before he called.

The Teen Outreach Program is a prime focus area for The Crisis Hotline and Wood River Insurance volunteers, visiting schools and educating students on issues such as bullying, depression and the warning signs of suicide. That dedication to helping others has earned Wood River Insurance a 2016 Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award. Together, with the help of our community voting online in the contest earlier this year, we earned a $5,000 donation to The Crisis Hotline from Safeco on behalf of Wood River Insurance.

“This will enable us to expand our educational programs, including presentations to local school PTA meetings with intervention strategies for parents,” Sher Foster, executive director said. “Thanks to Safeco and the volunteers from Wood River Insurance, we will have a much greater impact in our valley.”
